an obvious cry for attention

after getting so jazzed on making games by the igf pirate kart – to which i contributed, among other things, my recent pornographic dating sim – radix decided to throw a game-making pirate kart afterparty.

i was in the mood to write some more smut, no thanks to my experience playing metroid: other m last weekend, so HERE’S SOME MORE SMUT. special thanks to the posters on the escapist’s forums.

I used to go to the Escapist to watch “I Hit it With My Axe” & was always…pretty appalled at the community over there. Urk.

    This was surreal.

…Well, as surreal as something with links made out of real posts by real people can be.

Maybe the fact that I still can’t believe they bothered to post those things, even if I saw the posts myself and read them, makes them surreal as well.

If that’s the case I have hopes that a BDSM-themed wrestling game will be next.

Man, I don’t understand people who claim they don’t get bdsm. I can get not being into it, sure, but given how much bdsm is present in pop culture, “not understanding” it smacks of a deep-set naivety. We’re all adults here, right?

I don’t know, I think they way BDSM is portrayed in popular media it’s hard to blame someone for not understanding it.

I think your definition of “not understanding it” and my definition differ. I’m talking about literally about his statement that he doesn’t see why it would become a lifestyle thing. As he clearly states, he does not think with his penis nearly enough.

Actually I blame everyone for not understanding anything. There’s no greater hazard to society and no greater indication of intellectual sloth than deciding not to understand anything. Those people should be summarily executed, or at least their parents fined very heavily for subjecting them to a culture that inspired such sloth.

That’s where I draw my tolerance line, incuriousity. Hate anything you like, as long as you can tell me why and talk about the reason the people you hate are that way. As long as you’ve done some actual research on the subject. Also that you recognize that not holding people accountable for their own wrongheaded beliefs is a slippery slope that leads to the truth that would ultimately unravel society if embraced properly: that free will does not exist.

Sorry, I’m in a preachy mood. I’ve just read a very large number of incredibly frustrating comments about how women (and men) should pipe down about the problems with Xbox-live voice chat (The fucks and niggers and cuntdykes et al) because there are terrible things in the world and this is not that bad. I read a great deal of cultural rationalizing that reminds me again and again that gamers are people who I do not want to be associated with, and that I just tangentially hold a similar interest in games with. This sort of thing happens about every time a CoD game drops.

    Fuck nerds, nerds are terrible.

Also update your blog Anna, I need some controversial design statements I actually disagree with to keep me sane.

I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that you’re proclaiming execution, or the fact that you play Call of Duty. I seriously _don’t understand_ the draw of Call of Duty. ;)
